Romain had been homeless and living in Heathrow Airport for 3 weeks when he met Justyna.
Now he is employed and taking the first steps towards a better life…
After being referred to Heathrow Employment and Skills academy by Travel services, Justyna
didn’t waste any time introducing him to employers.
“I don’t waste time. Some candidates are suffering they need jobs, money and homes.” – Justyna Witts, Recruitment Officer.
Romain, originally from France. Had previously been working in East London as a kitchen porter. Receiving a wage of £120 per week. A low wage for London, that didn’t cover his living expenses. Missing his son who is still living in France. Romain decided to return and find work closer to home.
Coming back to the UK
Failing to secure a job, he used the last of his money to fly back to the UK and try to find work to support himself and his family.
After the referral Justyna acted quickly conducting the pre-screen over the phone and contacting employers directly.
Romain was offered an interview at Carluccio’s. Upbeat and enthusiastic despite his circumstances, his confidence shone through.
Romain is now the newest employee at Carluccio’s Heathrow. With thanks to two great Managers that gave him a chance.
What Justyna said…
“Honestly, an amazing experience. This role pays off. Success stories, helping people. You change people’s lives. It’s a Good start for Romain. I feel very proud to have had an impact and that’s why I love what I do.”
“Building people’s confidence and watching them grow is so rewarding. Hopefully we can place more people and get more willing employers.”
