Entry requirements

Apprentices without Level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for Level 2 English and maths prior to completion of their apprenticeship. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.

What to expect

Supply Chain Operators are primarily responsible for managing the movement of goods for a variety of customers across all sectors. In this industry you may be required to work in shifts, for example overnight or at weekends, and some (depending on the nature of their organisation) may be required to work internationally. If you enjoy working as part of a team, have great interpersonal skills, demonstrate integrity, credibility and honesty then a career in this industry would be perfect for you. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building. On completion, you may choose to register as Associate members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management.

Assessment

You will be assessed by your trainer who will visit you in the workplace to assess and observe you at work, reviewing your progress and ensuring you are on target to get your qualification. You will also have access to the remote support of an e-portfolio where your trainer might set you tasks to complete. Towards the end of your apprenticeship you will complete an End-point Assessment. This is the final assessment to ensure that you meet the industry standard for the job you have been training for and can include: tests, a project, employer references and/or an interview.

Progression

This is an entry-level apprenticeship which provides the foundation knowledge, skills and experience for the role of Supply Chain Operator with massive opportunities to progress within the Supply Chain industry, for example as a team leader or manager.
