Some people are natural leaders who seek to make positive change through their career. A role in Leadership & Management requires assertiveness, proactivity and drive to help lead a team towards a vision or goal. 
Team leader / Supervisor
Level: 3 Duration: Minimum 12 months Qualification type: Apprenticeship standard ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….  Entry requirements: To start this apprenticeship you typically need to have completed relevant qualifications (e.g. Five GCSEs at grades 4/C and above) and/or have previous experience in an operational role within the industry. If apprentices haven’t already achieved Level 2 English and Maths you will be required to do so prior to completion of the apprenticeship. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.

What to expect A Team Leader/Supervisor is a first line management role, with operational/project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. The skills you’ll learn on this programme can be used as a foundation to many jobs and career paths across many different sectors. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building. On completion, you may choose to register as Associate members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management.

Assessment You will be assessed by your trainer who will visit you in the workplace to assess and observe you at work, reviewing your progress and ensuring you are on target to get your qualification. You will also have access to the remote support of an e-portfolio where your trainer might set you tasks to complete. Towards the end of your apprenticeship you will complete an End-point Assessment. This is the final assessment to ensure that you meet the industry standard for the job you have been training for and can include: tests, a project, employer references and/or an interview.

Progression? On completion you could be working as a Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift Manager, with the opportunity to complete a higher level apprenticeship, for example Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager.

Retail Team Leader
Level: 3 Duration: Minimum 12 months Qualification type: Apprenticeship standard ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. Entry requirements: Five GCSEs at grade 4/C and above or a Level 2 qualification. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.

What to expect As a Retail Team Leader your main responsibility will be to support your managers to deliver exceptional customer service and a positive experience to customers. You may have to deputise for managers in their absence to guide and coordinate the work of the team to complete tasks and maintain business standards. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building.

Assessment You will be assessed by your trainer who will visit you in the workplace to assess and observe you at work, reviewing your progress and ensuring you are on target to get your qualifications. Progression? Progression from this apprenticeship could be into a junior retail management position.

Associate Project Manager
Level: 4 Duration: Minimum 24 months Qualification type: Apprenticeship standard ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….  Entry requirements: Apprentices will be required to have or to achieve Level 2 English and Maths tests prior to completion of their apprenticeship. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this. You may also need to have five GCSEs at grades 4/C and above and/or have previous experience to complete this programme.

What to expect: As an Associate Project Manager you are responsible for planning, organising and managing a team to achieve the required outcomes of a particular project. The skills learned during this programme can be used across a variety of industries and careers paths. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building.

Assessment: You will be assessed by your trainer who will visit you in the workplace to assess and observe you at work, reviewing your progress and ensuring you are on target to get your qualification. You will also have access to the remote support of an e-portfolio where your trainer might set you tasks to complete. Towards the end of your apprenticeship you will complete an End-point Assessment. This is the final assessment to ensure that you meet the industry standard for the job you have been training for and can include: tests, a project, employer references and/or an interview.

Progression? On completion you will be eligible to become associate members of the Association for Project Management (APM). Full membership can be attained through further experience and professional development.

Retail Manager
Level: 4 Duration: Minimum 12 months Qualification type: Apprenticeship standard ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. Entry requirements: It is expected that the individual would have worked within a supervisory role to start on this apprenticeship standard. Apprentices will be required to have or to achieve Level 2 English and Maths tests prior to completion of their apprenticeship. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.

What to expect: As a Retail Manager your main responsibility is to deliver on sales targets and a ensure customers have a positive experience that will encourage repeat custom and loyalty to the brand / business. If you enjoy working with a wide range of people, have excellent communication skills and a sound understanding of business and people management with a passion for leading and developing a team, then a career as a Retail Manager could be for you. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building.

Progression? Progression from this apprenticeship would be into a Retail Store Manager, Senior Retail Manager, or Area Manager Position.

Operations / Departmental Manager
Level: 5 Duration: Minimum 24 months Qualification type: Apprenticeship standard ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. Entry requirements: To start this apprenticeship you typically need to have completed relevant qualifications (e.g. five GCSEs at grades 4/C and above) and/or have previous experience in an operational role within the industry. If apprentices haven’t already achieved level 2 English and Maths you will be required to do so prior to completion of the apprenticeship. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.

What to expect: As an Operations/Departmental Manager you will be responsible for leading a team, reaching goals and objectives and looking after a specific area of the business. The skills you’ll learn on this programme can be used as a foundation to many jobs and career paths across many different sectors. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building. On completion, you can register as full members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, and those with 3 years of management experience can apply for Chartered Manager status through the CMI.

You will also have access to the remote support of an e-portfolio where your trainer might set you tasks to complete. Towards the end of your apprenticeship you will complete an End-point Assessment. This is the final assessment to ensure that you meet the industry standard for the job you have been training for and can include: tests, a project, employer references and/or an interview.

Progression? On completion you could be working as Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager or a specialist manager, with the opportunity to complete a higher level apprenticeship for example Level 6 Chartered Manager at degree level.
