………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Entry requirements:

To start this apprenticeship you may need to have completed a Level 2 or other relevant qualification (e.g. Five GCSEs at grades 4/C and above) and/or have previous experience in an operational role within the industry. If apprentices haven’t already achieved level 2 English and maths you will be required to do so prior to completion of the apprenticeship. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.

What to expect

Working as an HR professional you will help to provide vital front-line support to management and employees, handling day to day queries and providing HR advice from recruitment through to retirement. You will also learn to use HR systems to keep records. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building. Successful completion of this standard will enable the individual to apply for Associate Membership (Assoc CIPD) of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the professional body for the HR sector.

Assessment

You will be assessed by your trainer who will visit you in the workplace to assess and observe you at work, reviewing your progress and ensuring you are on target to get your qualification. You will also have access to the remote support of an e-portfolio where your trainer might set you tasks to complete. Towards the end of your apprenticeship you will complete an End-point Assessment. This is the final assessment to ensure that you meet the industry standard for the job you have been training for and can include: tests, a project, employer references and/or an interview.

Progression

The HR support apprenticeship forms the foundation of a career within the profession, giving the base for further development for example through the HR Consultant/Partner apprenticeship. The apprentice can choose to stay within core HR or diversify into one of the specialist areas of business.
