 Entry requirements:

Apprentices will be required to have or to achieve Level 2 English and Maths tests prior to completion of their apprenticeship. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this. You may also need to have completed a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship or other relevant qualifications to complete this programme.

What to expect

Those working in facilities management make sure that facilities such as security, catering, cleaning, maintenance and other building services run smoothly, so that customers can run their businesses efficiently. This apprenticeship involves providing a quality and cost-effective maintenance and care service for a wide range of commercial and public buildings, such as hotels, hospitals, and shopping complexes. On completion of the apprenticeship you will meet the qualifying criteria to register as an Associate Membership of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM). Apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, so you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building.

Assessment

You will be assessed by your trainer who will visit you in the workplace to assess and observe you at work, reviewing your progress and ensuring you are on target to get your qualification. You will also have access to the remote support of an e-portfolio where your trainer might set you tasks to complete. Towards the end of your apprenticeship you will complete an End-point Assessment. This is the final assessment to ensure that you meet the industry standard for the job you have been training for and can include: tests, a project, employer references and/or an interview.

Progression?

Completing this apprenticeship programme will enable progression into a wide range of senior roles within the Facilities Management area roles such as a Facilities Manager, Premises Manager, Energy Services Manager or Contract Manager.
