Business

A qualification in Business Administration will teach you a range of skills that allow you to work in various areas of a business, including marketing, sales, customer service, HR, accounting, ICT and admin. 
Business Administration (Intermediate)
Level: 2

Duration: Minimum 12 months

Qualification type: Apprenticeship

Entry requirements:

Although there are no formal qualifications required to start this apprenticeship you will be be required to have or to achieve at least Level 1 English and Maths tests prior to completion of the apprenticeship. You will also need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.

What to expect

As a Business Administrator you will be involved in supporting a wide range of business functions, which may include producing documents, making and receiving telephone calls, and meeting and welcoming visitors. If you have good organisational skills and want to work in an office environment then a Business Administration Apprenticeship could be an ideal option for you. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building.

Assessment

You will be assessed by your trainer who will visit you in the workplace to assess and observe you at work, reviewing your progress and ensuring you are on target to get your qualification. You will also have access to the remote support of an e-portfolio where your trainer might set you tasks to complete. Towards the end of your apprenticeship you will complete an End-point Assessment. This is the final assessment to ensure that you meet the industry standard for the job you have been training for and can include: tests, a project, employer references and/or an interview.

Progression

Progression from this apprenticeship could be into a variety of junior business roles. You may also wish to increase your skills by completing a Level 3 qualification.

Business Administration (Advanced)
Level: 3

Duration: Typically 24 months

Qualification type: Apprenticeship

Entry requirements:

Five GCSEs at grade 4/C and above, including English or a Level 2 qualification. You will need to be in relevant employment, but we can support you to find this.

What to expect

As well as supporting a range of business functions in your organisation, at Level 3 you will build on your pre-existing knowledge and experience of administration systems. Level 3 is ideal if you want to develop your skills to implement and monitor administrative procedures and systems or perhaps to move into a management role. As apprenticeships are all about learning on the job, you’ll spend most of your time working with your employer and learning as you go. You will also be required to complete some off the job training which may include in house training, research and portfolio building.
